Omani Tips on how to care for your jewelry.

It’s always best to take good care of your jewelry, but despite our best efforts, sometimes our jewelry loses its luster and needs a good cleaning to bring it back to life.

Start by polishing jewelry with the interior layer of cloth.
It is specially treated to polish your jewelry and enhance shine. Avoid over-polishing as it can remove details and potentially cause your jewelry to lose designed oxidation and patina on bronze.

Then use the outside layer of cloth to wipe/buff the jewelry.
Buff your jewelry using the outside layer to remove any remaining dirt or tarnish and give your jewelry a clean, shiny finish.

For best results: Store in a sealed plastic bag and follow directions above. Do not wash. Keep this cloth away from flames.

    Regular Cleaning

Sterling silver is a soft metal, so it can be easily scratched. When handling and cleaning your jewelry, you’ll need to take special care not to use anything too rough that will leave scratch marks.

Use a jewelry cleaning cloth or a cloth made of 100 percent cotton to gently remove residual make up and dirt. A clean brush no stiffer than a soft baby’s toothbrush can also be used, especially in conjunction with a few drops of mild dish liquid in ½ cup of warm water.

Another quick and easy way to clean your sterling silver jewelry is to submerge it in boiling water with baking soda and aluminum foil. Use a container in which your jewelry fits with enough room to be stirred. Start with a tablespoon of baking soda and a few half inch squares of foil. Add the boiling water and stir with a plastic or wooden utensil. If you notice a smell similar to rotten eggs, then it’s working. Make sure that the foil touches all parts of your jewelry so that the tarnish will adhere to it and not your jewelry. Once your jewelry is shiny again, rinse it with clean, cool water.

You can use commercial jewelry cleaners or wipes to remove tarnish from your sterling silver or silver plated jewelry.  But there is an easier way!  And it uses common materials to reverse the chemical reaction that made your silver tarnish in the first place.

    Do It Yourself

    1. Line the bottom of a dish or bowl with aluminum foil.
    2. Bring water to a roaring boil (it should be enough to fill that bowl or dish).
    3. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda per cup of water. Expect that the solution may bubble and froth a bit.
    4. Place the piece of silver jewelry in the dish, making sure it's touching the aluminum foil. This is essential for the chemical reaction to occur.
    5. Pour the solution of baking soda and boiling water into dish.
    6. Let sit for two to 10 minutes, depending on the level of tarnish.
    7. Allow it to dry ... and be amazed!

If you're in shock and wondering how it works, here's the deal: It's actually reversing the chemical reaction that made your silver tarnish in the first place.

Whether you’re dressing for work, a wedding or going on a night out with the girls, here are our top tips for pairing every outfit with the right pieces from Omani Jewellery.

Some pieces of jewellery will go with everything you wear. These are usually sentimental pieces like wedding rings, family heirlooms or meaningful jewellery such as a delicate necklace given to you by a loved one. These pieces subtly enhance your personal style and are usually made of precious metals so they can be worn day and night. These everyday pieces of jewellery are guaranteed to suit every outfit but they should also complement your skin tone. If your skin has a cooler undertone, silver or rose gold jewellery will enhance your look whereas gold jewellery looks great with warmer undertones in the skin.

Omani Jewellery offers many variations, we recommend going with something classic and unique such as our charm bracelet in Sterling silver, HAMMERED SILVER METAL BRACELET that also comes in gold. Our Harish-spinning ring also knows as the prayer ring and our layer of love sterling sliver earrings. Combining these handmade pieces together will give you a sense of style while still feeling laidback and casual.

Adding jewellery to your work outfits will give a touch of personality to your look. It’s best to stick to more understated, subtle pieces that don’t cause disruption to your colleagues or yourself. Wearing a stack of noisy bracelets can be off-putting to those around and distract you from your work. Instead of bracelets try sticking to simple and delicate necklaces, earrings and rings. If you’re in a conservative workplace wear classic, elegant jewellery. Instead of statement earrings, wear either stud earrings or small hoop earrings. In creative workplaces you can be slightly more experimental with your accessories, try layering a couple of your necklaces with an unbuttoned, oversized shirt and stacking your rings.

We suggest pairing Omani Jewellery facets of life Swarovski earrings with our good as gold necklace. Let’s not forget the sterling silver charm bracelet with pearls for a little feminine touch.

When pairing your jewellery with an outfit for a wedding or a special celebration, make sure to choose your accessories after you’ve decided on the dress you’re going to wear. This will ensure your jewellery doesn’t clash with the neckline or sleeves. If you’re opting for a dress with a high neckline, chandelier earrings will match this look perfectly. Wearing a matching bracelet or ring will complete this look.

For dresses with low necklines, a choker necklace paired with a longer necklace will complement your look. Add a single minimal bracelet and rings for extra detail. Omani Jewellery is all about being unique and standing out of the crowd. Our Black Onyx and Sterling silver necklace is sure to make the perfect statement, along with our unique wrap bracelet in both silver ad gold, as well as our Labradorite ring and enchanted earning for added elegance.

    • Keep your jewellery toned down when your outfit has a lot going on. Ruffles and busy prints are best paired with minimal jewellery, opt for an understated pair of earrings and a bracelet and let your clothes do the talking!
    • Earrings will frame your face!Although they’re small, earrings can add a big impact to your look as anyone that you’re talking to will notice them straight away.

    Why are gemstones so precious?

    Why are gemstones so precious?
What makes one type of mineral more valuable, and why are gemstones so precious? Firstly, we need to state that the term "gemstone" in the strict geological science sense is used to define a mineral crystal. A mineral has to be a solid chemical compound, with a crystal lattice structure. Gemstones can be either natural or synthetic, and to be considered as precious, they have to be exceedingly rare. Diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds are precious stones.
